Invitation
Dear colleagues,
we would like to kindly invite you for the participation in 14th Czech-Slovak spectroscopic conference organized by Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society and Slovak Spectroscopic Society in Litomyšl, May 31 – June 3, 2010, with the support Thermo Fisher Scientific as the main sponsor of the Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society and under the auspices of Czech committee for UNESCO, the dean of Faculty of chemical-technology at the University of Pardubice, Masaryk University in Brno and the city Litomyšl. This biannual conference is organized jointly by both national spectroscopic societies for the second time as a result of long-time fruitful cooperation. The last XIXth Slovak-Czech spectroscopic conference was held in Častá-Papiernička in 2008. The numbering according to the previous conferences in both countries is retained.
The conference program covers the full range of atomic and molecular spectroscopic techniques. All information about this conference including the on-line registration and abstract submission forms is on the conference website
The most part of program is in Czech and Slovak languages, but the lectures from foreign scientists are given in English, for example the lecture about the invention of Orbitrap as a new type of mass analyzer presented by dr. A. Makarov from Germany, lectures of prof. J.M. Mermet from France and prof. G. Schlemmer from Germany as leading experts in atomic spectrometry.
Litomyšl is an old Czech city established around the trade route that connected Bohemia and Moravia at the end of the 10th century. The city dominant is the Italianate Renaissance castle (listed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Heritage List) supplemented by the Gothic town hall, monastery gardens, a number of Renaissance and Baroque houses and historical streets. Litomyšl is also a birthplace of Czech famous composer Bedřich Smetana, whose name is commemorated by an annual opera festival. The conference dinner is organized on Wednesday in the historical castle including the special night tour. The social program of the conference also reflects the musical tradition of this city.
We are looking forward to meet you in Litomyšl.
Kind regards,
Prof. Ing. Michal Holčapek, Ph.D.
Chairman of the organizing committee
Prof. RNDr. Viktor Kanický, DrSc.
Chairman of the Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society
